Don B. Daily Safety Steel Intern Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST)
The Don B. Daily Safety Steel Intern Scholarship, in conjunction with the Don B. Daily Safety Grant, offers a unique opportunity for North American university students pursuing studies in safety or industrial safety hygiene. This opportunity includes a paid summer internship in the steel manufacturing industry, followed by a scholarship.
To be considered for the Don B. Daily Safety Steel Intern Scholarship, which includes a paid summer internship and a subsequent one-year scholarship worth US$7,500, please fill out the scholarship application form.
The awards are contingent upon the completion of a paid summer internship at a steel-producing company or industry supplier in North America.
- There are up to two one-year awards available.
- Applicants must agree to undertake a paid summer internship at a steel company or industry supplier in North America.
- Once chosen, AIST will aid in arranging the internship. The companies eligible for the internship component of this scholarship are spread across North America. The selected recipient will indicate their preferred company and location. The company will conduct an interview with the recipient as per standard job application procedures. The recipient has the final say in accepting the offer.
- Applicants are urged to gather information from steel companies at career/job fairs and can accept an internship or co-op at a steel-producing company or industry supplier at any time. If the recipient arranges their own internship, the company must be pre-approved by AIST. Please reach out to AIST for approval before accepting a self-arranged internship. Accepting an internship at a company not directly involved in steel manufacturing will result in automatic disqualification.
- If the recipient withdraws from an accepted internship offer within the program, they will be disqualified.
- To remain eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must receive a satisfactory performance review from the internship company and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
