Johnson County Academic Scholarships

Introductory overview
The JCREMC Academic Scholarship Program supports graduating high school seniors who plan to continue their education or vocational training and helps promote understanding of the cooperative business model. For 2026, JCREMC will award three scholarships of $2,000 each to qualifying local seniors whose parent or guardian is a JCREMC member and who intend to enroll at an in-state college, university, or trade school after graduation.
Who may apply
- Graduating seniors from local high schools whose parent or guardian holds JCREMC membership.
- Applicants must plan to attend an in-state institution (college, university, or trade school) following high school graduation.
Scholarship details and number of awards
Three academic scholarships, each valued at $2,000, will be granted.
Application period and deadline
- The online application opens Monday, December 15, 2025.
- All application materials must be submitted online, hand-delivered to the JCREMC office, or postmarked no later than Monday, February 2, 2026.
Essay requirements
- Essays must follow MLA formatting.
- Each essay must be at least 500 words and include cited sources.
- Essays must respond to one of the prompts provided on the application.
- Be sure to place your full name at the top of your essay.
Ineligible applicants
Dependents of JCREMC or JCFiber employees or of members of their boards are not eligible to apply.
