West Virginia PTA Scholarship

Introduction
Thanks to the generosity of donors and proceeds from the annual West Virginia PTA Scholarship Auction, West Virginia PTA provides scholarships to graduating seniors from West Virginia public high schools. For 2026, the organization will award multiple $500 scholarships. The Scholarship Fund also receives contributions through purchases of West Virginia PTA Honorary Life Memberships—visit the Honorary Life Membership page to honor someone special.
Important deadline
All application materials must be received by February 1, 2026. Previous-year applications will not be considered.

Eligibility
- Applicant must be a graduating senior enrolled in a West Virginia public high school.
- Minimum cumulative grade point average: 2.0.
Use of Award and Other Aid
- Awards are intended for tuition and other educational expenses at a vocational program, college, or institution of higher learning approved by the Scholarship Committee. Awards may not be used for living or personal expenses.
- Recipients may also accept other scholarships or financial aid.
Application requirements (must be submitted by Feb 1, 2026)
- Complete the 2026 scholarship application via the online form (no previous-year applications accepted).
- Official high school transcript.
- PTA Reflection (limit: one page).
- Long-Term Goals essay (limit: one page).
- Up to three letters of recommendation (each no more than one page). Suggested recommenders: teacher, community leader, or job supervisor.
Selection and award process
- The Scholarship Committee—made up of members of the West Virginia PTA Board of Managers and PTA members appointed by the President—has final authority on scholarship awards.
- Payment will be issued as a check payable to the approved school and must be used for tuition/educational expenses only.
Selection criteria
Recipients will be chosen without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or geographic location. Considerations include:
- Overall completeness and quality of the application and submitted materials, and adherence to instructions.
- Volunteer service, leadership, honors, extracurricular activities, and work experience.
