Medical Library Association Grant
Scholarship Sponsored by Medical Library Association
Grants, Scholarships, and Fellowships
The Medical Library Association (MLA) provides a range of financial awards to support eligible students enrolled in graduate library and information science programs and to help practicing health sciences librarians pursue continuing education and career development.
Overview and key points
- Annual consideration: All grant, scholarship, and fellowship applications are reviewed each year. Awards are made only when applicants clearly satisfy or exceed the stated eligibility and selection criteria.
- Application timeline: Most funding opportunities open on September 11 and use a common deadline of December 2. Check each program’s individual page for any variations or additional instructions.
- Confirmation of receipt: MLA will send an acknowledgment when your application is received.
- Membership: MLA membership is a requirement for the majority of grants, scholarships, and fellowships.
- Recipient announcements: Awardees are announced in the spring. Recordings of past virtual award ceremonies are available on the vConnections page.
- Funding sources: Several awards are supported by MLA restricted (endowment) funds. The number and dollar amounts of those awards are set each year, depending on endowment performance.
